We were thrilled to be able to run our popular Pick Your Own Posy sessions again this summer after nearly 6 months without visitors at the flower plot. We welcomed individuals, couples and multi-generational family groups booked onto our public dates as well as privately booked groups of friends and work colleagues. Our youngest visitor was 10 and a budding flower farmer/florist.
After welcoming everyone and giving them a brief introduction to the site as well as tips on how to choose and cut flowers, visitors were free to wander among the flowers picking whatever they liked the look of. Dahlias, Panicum ‘Frosted Explosion’ grass and the scented Pelargoniums were particularly popular.
Once they’d chosen their flowers, visitors were given a step by step demonstration of how to create a florists’ style hand-tied posy with the stems arranged in a lovely spiral. Then it was over to them to have a go themselves if they wanted to. By reducing group sizes to 5, we were able to ensure that everyone had their own workspace and was able to keep a safe distance from other visitors.
There were some beautiful arrangements made and a lot of fun was had in the process.
Thank you to all our lovely visitors who came along and joined in with our events. We really appreciate all your support and it was wonderful to be able to share our flowers with you.
