We run our small cut-flower growing business from our plot at Primrose Vale PYO Farm, nestled in the heart of the of the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside. We grow a range of different annual, perennial and bulb varieties, all of which we have chosen for their beauty, delicacy, scent and becuase they make excellent cut flowers. We have a large commercial polytunnel which allows us to extend our flower season from March to October and an outside area with more growing beds and a pretty gazebo from which we run our floristry workshops.
For the first couple of years Liz grew flowers in her garden, even convincing her husband to dig up the lawn to make way for more flower beds but still ran out of space. In 2017 a friend suggested we get in touch with Primrose Vale to see if they had any land to rent and in October, we took on the management of a patch of land there. We had the ground prepared and the polytunnel installed, giving the perfect blank canvas on which to create a flower plot. With some invaluable help from friends and family, the first phase of the plot was complete and the tunnel was fully planted up but Christmas. Despite battling the snow, rain, mud, sun, no rain and inside temperatures of over 40 degrees, our first year on the farm was amazing. The highlight of the year, and a dream come true, was undoubtedly having the opportunity to send some of our flowers to be part of ‘Flowers from the Farm’s’ Gold Medal winning exhibit at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
The plot is now nearing completion and every growing space is now fully planted up. We’re excited to see the plot in full bloom for the first time later this summer and can’t wait to open our doors to visitors on Saturday 17th August 2019 for our first ever Open Morning and Pick Your Own event.
We hope you will take the time to explore the website and see what else the Cotswold Posy Patch has to offer. Please do get in touch with us if you’d like to chat more about British flowers or any of the services we provide.
